Chiri means left-over and here refers to the left-over bits of mulberry bark that have been put into the sheet of paper for decorative effect. As well as having bark flecks added, this paper contains additional unbeaten kozo fibre creating a liveliness, especially when backlit. Wonderful used in lamps or window treatments where the quiet energy of the fibre inclusions can be appreciated. This beautiful paper is made in the village of Kurotani, the oldest continuous papermaking village in Japan where they have been making paper for over 800 years. Heritage Washi (HW)
