Online Catalogue - Chiyogami

Status of Geo Chiyo and Kyo-Komon

We are sad to report that the production of these little gems, on pure handmade kozo paper, has ceased.

We are pleased to report, however, that we still have stocks of some patterns.  We also have commissioned some of the more popular patterns to be made into screens the size of our regular Chiyogami (24" x 36"). These are now part of the Chiyo line, and as such you will need to order them by the codes as listed.  The pigments vary and the printing is a little less intense than it was on pure kozo.

This is the story of Japanese paper - old craftspeople and methods die and the newer, faster, less expensive methods replace them.  Moral of the story: buy the best quality while you still can!

Go to our individual Geo Chiyo pages to see the status of each paper.
