Under 30 at 30
juried exhibition at The Japanese Paper Place
June 7 – July 5 2012

Celebrating 30 years since The Japanese Paper
Place opened its doors
on Queen St. West in Toronto, we request submissions of works
on Japanese paper by artists under
30 years old by April 30, 2012 for an exhibition in
June 2012 called Under 30 at 30.
Jurors and fellow
exhibitors will be Ed Pien, Max Streicher and Cybèle
Young. Works selected will illustrate effective and innovative
use of the special properties of Japanese paper. They may include
sculpture, drawing, painting, printmaking and stitching, or any
combination of these and other art forms.
Entry deadline: April
30, 2012.
Guidelines:
- Submissions will be juried by digital image.
- A limit of 2 works per
artist submitted on CD (jpeg formatted.) CDs will not be returned.
- Each
jpeg file must be no larger than 1.5MB in size, and labeled
as follows: Artist's Last Name, Artist's First Name, Title, Size
in inches (height x width x depth), Date.jpg (eg. Brown, Jane,
My Painting, 9 x 12, 2012.jpg)
- Works may be in any medium on 100% handmade kozo,
mitsumata or gampi sold by The Japanese Paper Place or one
of its resellers.
- The paper used must be identified by its full name.
- Submissions
must be accompanied by this
printable PDF entry form.
Jurying and awards:
- Jurors will be artist Ed Pien, Max Streicher,
and Cybèle
Young.
- Prizes of gift certificates for Japanese paper will be awarded
to the top 3 pieces.
- Artists will be notified by email or phone of
the jury's decision by May 24, 2012.
Exhibition details:
- Venue – The Japanese Paper Place, 77 Brock
Ave. Toronto ON.
- Works will be on sale at a price specified by
the artist with 80% to the artist and 20% to The Japanese Paper
Place.
